Powers and functions of the Director General
The Federal Institute of Justice and Law has been headed by the Honorable Ambassador Degfe Bula with the rank of Minister and Director General since 2010. The Director General of the Institute is the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute and manages and directs the activities of the Institute. The Director General is accountable to the Supreme Court and has the following duties: Ensures the implementation of the Institute’s powers and functions; Hires, manages, and dismisses professionals who will carry out the objectives of the Institute in accordance with the guidelines issued by the government and support staff in accordance with the Federal Public Service Law; Prepares and submits to the government the Institute’s programs and budget, and implements them when approved; Prepares and submits to the higher authority a plan, program, and budget for the implementation of the Institute’s powers and functions, and implements them when approved; Expends and manages funds in accordance with the approved budget and work program for the Institute.
Presents the Institute's performance and financial reports; represents the Institute in all relations with third parties; the Director General may delegate some of his powers and duties to Deputy Directors General and other employees, to the extent necessary for the efficient operation of the Institute;

The Executive Departments responsible to the Office of the Director General of our institution are the Audit Department; Public Relations and Communication; Women and Social Affairs; and Anti-Corruption and Ethics Monitoring. The Office is implementing its work by coordinating the Executive Departments responsible to the Office based on the 10-year Strategic Plan of the institution, ensuring that the annual plan is properly prepared and their implementation is monitored on a regular basis.
In addition, focuses on each executive responsible to the Office, and works on internal audit, anti-corruption and ethics monitoring and actions, as well as women and social inclusion implementation activities, in coordination with communication and public relations activities.

Among the main tasks of the Office of the Director General are:
- Conducts financial, operational, and performance audits of the institution, and takes corrective actions based on audit findings.
- It arranges for the institution's accounts to be examined by an external audit, ensures that corrective actions are taken on the findings, and ensures that they are taken.
- Monitors and ensures that the institution's audit activities meet audit standards.
- It monitors current international and national developments and informs the management of their impact on the activities of the office.
- It verifies, determines, submits to the superior body for decision, and monitors various memorandums of understanding (MoUs) prepared.
- Ensures that negotiations and agreements the office enters into with other parties are effective and in the best interests of the organization and its employees;
